We are “stoked”: The instrumental version of River of Lust is used in the soundtrack of the new movie by Lost Enterprises. The movie is called 5’5” x 19 ¼” REDUX . It’s cryptic name refers to the dimensions of the surfboards ridden in the movie. Indeed, the whole point of the movie is to showcase some amazing surfers pushing the frontiers of surfing on boards that are both shorter and narrower than the standard high performance modern surfboard. This allows them to do some pretty amazing things.
Our song is used in Chapter 26, a section called ‘Cory’s Left’ in which they discover a long, hollow, peeling left. As surfers would say, “It’s one of the sickest parts of the movie”. If this is your cup of tea, go pick it up at your local surfshop…

For those of you who may not know, Portraits of Past is a hardcore band that began in the mid 90’s that has three members in common with Bellavista: Rex, Jeremy and Matthew.
After 13 years with no activity, Portraits of Past played some reunion shows in late 2008 with more to come in 2009. As it stands POP are also planning a tour of Japan, releasing a record of new songs we have written, and playing few festivals here in the US summer 2009. Stay tuned for more info.

Thanks to all those who came out to see Tamaryn play the Knockout in San Francisco this last Wed, Feb 11th. It was very well attended, with great music, and extremely successful by all accounts.
In case you are wondering what this has to do with Bellavista, three of us from Bellavista, (Rex, Matthew, and Jeremy), performed with her as her backing band. Rex has been writing and recording with Tamaryn for several years now.
It was an extra special night because not only was it hosted by some of the Shutter DJ’s, but a lot of our closest friends came out to support. We want to give special thanks to Omar, Nako, and Justin for their DJ skills, Chris Golden for his undying love, and Zach for his terminal cool. If you were there but not mentioned in this post, feel free to complain accordingly.

As I sit here sending electrons down the accelerator to their annihilation at SLAC, Rex is working hard in the studio laying down tracks on the new songs for our next album, in fact he just emailed me an improved version of Are You Here Alone at 1:40 AM!.
For those who may not already know, Bellavista has two new members who have recently joined us and are helping us in the writing and recording process. They are: Matthew Bajda (drums) and Rachael Hoiem (keyboards).
